Autumn 2008 Beginners Course
Beginners Course Application Form (PDF)
The 2008 Beginner’s Course will commence on Sunday 21st September and run through October, ending early November.
Participants will receive 12 sessions of coaching both on and off the water in rowing boats for 8 people with a cox.
The objective of the course is to give people an introduction to rowing, concentrating mainly on technique. The focus will not be on fitness; however participants should be fit for exercise.
Weekend sessions (mostly Sunday morning/lunchtimes) will be in on the water in boats. There will also be three sessions on Wednesday or Thursday evenings at the rowing tank in Oxford (please see timetable).
The course costs £75 (£45 16-18 year olds).
Participants are asked to advise the coaches/organisers of their availability in advance of each session, so that all sessions can be planned properly.
We will advise you of what to wear and what to bring to each session.
Whilst we will endeavour to be on the water every weekend, if the weather or river conditions are deemed too dangerous for beginner rowers we will either cancel/postpone a session or provide alternative coaching off the water.
Application forms should be returned with a cheque for the course fee for the attention of the Novices coach at the club address.
Timings may be subject to change due to the availability of coaches/coxes and equipment.
Timetable
Participants will only do one of the timings for each of the twelve sessions, we will try to accommodate individuals preferences for which times they attend, however this may not always be possible. The timings of sessions may be subject to change due to the availability of coaches, equipment and coxes.
